About Gate Lodge Angling

Based in Carrickmacross, South County Monaghan and just one hour from both Dublin and Belfast, Gate Lodge Angling is run by local, qualified and registered Pike Guide Mal McLeod. Mal can cater for up to 10 anglers at any time by providing accommodation, boat and tackle hire and up to five guides in any one day. Gate Lodge Angling have a number of well maintained boats and engines ranging from 13ft. - 18ft. and life jackets come as standard.

Mal welcomes beginners and will provide tuition at no extra charge and can supply all the necessary tackle that any angler might need for a successful days fishing. More experienced anglers can fish in confidence knowing that Mall will bring them to the right place at the right time.

Mal has a strict catch and release policy when pike fishing. It’s important to him that pike stocks remain healthy and sustainable for generations to come.

Gate Lodge also provide quality accommodation. Mal's partner Geraldine runs the bed and breakfast which also provides a tackle store room, drying room and fridge / freezer facilities. A hearty Irish breakfast is served every morning and a packed lunch can be provided if necessary. Mal also brings his video camera on all his guiding trips and will film all the major events and play them in the breakfast lounge the next morning.

Gate Lodge Angling recommend Nallo’s bar and Shevlins bar just 2 minutes walk from the from the B&B and Sun Garden Oriental Restaurant for a gourmet meal. Mal and Geraldine often join their guests for a drink and a sing song in their local pub.
